Last weekend the Vienna Air King took place in Vienna. I had an awesome week building the course and riding the competition.....
Hey guys,
second comp in 2010 took place in Vienna/Austria - the so called "Vienna Air King".
I left to Vienna last week on Tuesday to help Andi Brewi to build the course till Thursday night. On Friday the big show should begin.
This years jumps were the best ones ever and we had so much fun riding real dirtjumps again after a long winter brake.
I felt really good and could make 3rd place in the qualifications. Since the weather issues made it not easy to ride, it was not sure if there are any finals right after.
In the end the weather wasn't too bad and they decided to push the finals throughl. It was really windy and a lot of riders couldn't stompe their runs as in the qualies. I also got some wind and finished just 8th in the end.
Sam Pilgrim could win, Martin Söderstrom 2nd and John Alm Högman 3rd.
But for me the comp wasn't over yet. On Sunday the Panasonic Best Trick contest took place. So I woke up and was super happy that the weather wasn't too bad at all.
We decided to make a 40 minutes Best Trick Jam session and it was a lot of fun to ride without any presure.
I was really motivated to show the spectators a new trick I learned in the off season which hasn't been shown in a contest yet.
In one of my last runs I tried the cork 720 (click for video) and the third try was perfect. So stoked to land that trick for my first time and win the Best Trick Award of the Vienna Air King.
Finally I had a really cool weekend and I'm looking forward to my next contests in Thun and Duisburg.
Cheers and greets,
Andi
